How to get back back your bsnl internet after resetting your router

In the "how to tech" section, I usually share some small tech hacks/stuff which I come across. Today, I am using a very simple trick to start using your internet connection(bsnl broadband) after resetting your router.

So as the luck would have it, I own a bsnl broadband connection at my home which I use it for my internet purposes. I use a i-ball Baton 150M Adsl+Router to get things going. Lately, my wifi password(the network security key) got leaked across my neighbors, leaving me with no option but to change it.

But the tragedy was, I wasn't able to log in to my router's ip page(which is 192.168.1.1)  in my case as I had forgotten the login password. (NOTE- the default username and password both are "admin".)
So, I decided to reset my router before it got any late.

Now there can be other reasons too for resetting your router. May be your net connection have some unknown troubles, or you want to access the ip page but couldn't access it hence, in the case of which you would normally want it to be set in the default state which can be done by resetting your router.
(Obviously, you can change it manually, but for that you need to have an access to the router's ip page in your browser).

How to reset your router?

1)Below your router, there will be a very small hole with the name "reset". It won't get pressed normally and you have to do it with the help of a pen, a sharp object or something like that. You need to press the button for 10 seconds while turning the router OFF.

2)When you switch it on, you will see it starting normally but the "internet" led will not glow, or the internet is activated for your bsnl broadband.

So how to get your internet back? You can call to bsnl customer executive to get help. In an ideal situation, their engineer will come and set the settings accordingly to make you go. But we all know, how bsnl customer care is and how the executives there respond. Ohh sorry, they won't even pick up the phone! So, you would may be call a local "computer wala" to get you things done, obviously they charge their fees.

But you can do it for absolutely free! Simply follow these steps-

1)Open your router page by typing in the ip address of your router in the browser(It is written on the router itself).

2)Since you have had your router reset, you will have to enter the default username and password which are"admin".

3)You need to search for "WAN" settings. In WAN settings, you will have to find the "PPPoE" settings for your broadband connection. The various fields normally are- "service name", "username" and "password".

4)In the "service name" field, type "dataone"

5)For username, you will need your bsnl bradband bill. Normally, it is delivered to your home. The bill consists of two pages stapled together. The first page contains all the details about your plan, charges, monthly amount etc. While in the second page, there are account details. In the second row of it, you will find in very small letters your "username".

Few other things you need to check and keep in mind is that the bridge interface should be "activated", VPI should be 0, and VCI should be 35.

6) If you don't have the second page of your bill, you can still find your username for your bsnl bradband. Go to http://selfcare.sdc.bsnl.co.in/selfcare/start.swe?SWECmd=Start&SWEHo=selfcare.sdc.bsnl.co.in. Now click "user registration for existing bsnl customers" There you will be asked your "customer ID" which is clearly mentioned in the top right corner of the first page of your bsnl broadband bill. Enter the same, then you will be asked to fill a form. After filling the form and verifying your e-mail id, login with your credentials and then in your account click "my services and then "view bradband usage", there you will find your username.

7)Enter the bsnl bradband username you just found. Then, enter the password as"password". Now save the changes you made to your router for the bsnl bradband settings. Run the quick setup wizard and verify your username and password you entered again.

8)Save everything and then try to access the web. Voila! Its working. Cheers :)

This was a very simple trick to activate internet on your bsnl bradband. I was very helpless for having no internet at my home for around five days when I discovered that all what I wanted is present in the bill!If you even have a little idea about how broadband works, chances are high that you already know this but still I am just sharing this because I don't want anyone to suffer like me. NOTE- Same is need to be done for the initial activation for your bsnl broadband.

An Indian student was denied an internship in Germany and the reason will literally put all Indians to shame

Rape is a global issue. Its one of the most evil thing which can be imagined from a living person(both male and female). In India, rape is a serious concern which is being taken care of by the Indian penal system and legal code. But I will have to say one thing, not in any misleading manner which it would suppose to be, there are countries in a "higher ranked" position if you would make a list of the countries across the globe according to their rape-rates. I agree that even one rape in something which  is completely not tolerable.

Now, why am I all of a sudden talking about rape stats?

If we were to believe a quora thread, an Indian student was turned down for an internship offer in Germany because he belonged to "India" or let me correct myself, he belonged to the "land of rapists". Here's how the story goes by,

Now, "belonging to a country with a decent track record of rapes" is a very strange, immoral, odd, prejudiced, shitty, generalized and completely cheap worthless reason to put down an internship application. Let's first look on the matter as a whole.

The Indian student, obviously was taken aback by receiving this mail, he replied to the professor and blamed her for generalizing Indian men, to which the "drunk"(I will literally assume her to be, you know because most of the German women drink, justice maybe?) professor replied like this,

Now looking up the rape statistics, according to a site, nationmaster Germany ranks 43 globally according to number of rapes committed per 100,000 citizens,

And where does India stands?

Now, to consider this fact this incident is even more illogical than wearing a deo to attract girls.
But, this statistics does not include the unreported cases, inclusive of which, I believe India will rank "higher", which it actually does according to another site, wonderslist.com.

Its very sad for us to have this kind of "ranking" and stats especially when we talk about considering rape as a global issue and welcome steps to remove it.

But at the same time, do German men don't rape? Do this professor doesn't also invite male students from other countries which are ranked in a position similar to India when it comes to rape statistics? Or this special type of treatment dressed with such hurtful words is reserved only for Indians?

Now let's try develop a positive side of this story. Suppose a German prof decides to go on a "crusaaadee" to eradicate rape from a country full of closed-minded people and none other than rapists. She decides to teach we Indians a lesson so that our legal system finally wakes up and takes up some legitimate action. But, dear prof Annette Beck Sickinger, all what you got up with was this? To turn down a possible prospective internship offer? I pity you.

Moreover, now along with the academic constraints, this prof have made a notable contribution to the parameters for judging an application and that is "whether the applicant is male and belongs to India or not". As luck would have it, I have not heard of a single incident about any Indian intern raping his fellow/co-worker abroad. Moreover, how could you even think of this way where your own society is ful of such incidents? Is it not your responsibity to work against it? Is turning down internship offer from prospect students a way to do that? Or are you just using your powers to hamper the fame of India? Indian students apply to you because they think that you will help them in their area of interst/field and will help them shape their future, but you have a pretty messed up brain quite there! Forget about others, your own future looks dark to me now.

On hearing the news, the German ambassador to India Michael Steiner gave an ear-sounding reply to the prof, here it is-

Yeah, its very disheartening, dis appealing and depressing for all of the Indian men who work for women empowerment in India and are active supporters and contributors for the movement across the world.

Also, I seriously recommend German universities, if they don't have it, to run a course on "critical thinking". No, not for students, but for the professors first!

After reading the above answer, And when Huffington Post got in touch with the professor, she changed her stance, mentioning that her lab was full. "I apologize if this caused any misunderstanding, but the e-Mail was taken out of the context. However my lab is full and I currently cannot take any student. This led to an unpleasant discussion with one of the Indian student.” she said.

This is again yet another example of her stupidity. As she want this to be looked as, this whole incident was taken "out of context" and the mails she sent was because her laboratory is full. My sides are in the orbit right now. If it was really the reason professor, how on this earth you justified your mails?

Enough is enough. We really need to push this matter.

Also, one more thing. Lately, I had been reading a lot about american christian societies gathering "funds" for relief for sexually assaulted females in India. Again, I am in no sense supporting this, or am happy about this, but US has been consistently ranking top on the rape statistics. Top as in rank-1.

Why on this earth is everyone so much concerned about the pathetic condition about the females in India. Yeah, its  a good thing, but why on this earth is no concrete action taken by them? Just merely talking about the issue will do? Moreover, isn't your country TOO is contaminated? A lot of money has been collected by the name for "affected females in India" Now the question arises is,

WHERE THE HELL IS THE MONEY?
WHAT IS THE POINT OF A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY FROM A COUNTRY HAVING HIGHEST NUMBER OF RAPES IN THE ENTIRE WORLD TO COLLECT FUNDS FOR WOMEN IN A SEPARATE COUNTRY?
Don't they need to collect money for their own country?
No. I will tell you why, because this all fuss is created in order to load in money by using the name of India. As India is very famous for such issues and people tend to "sympathize" for our country.

We don't need you. We need don't need private funds collected by defaming our country. We don't need to study under a professor who prejudices an applicant on basis of the country he belongs to and ofcourse, his gender.

Please share what you think about this matter.

How to remove/disable facebook timeline

Alright, this post might not be anew to many, but still all those who, somehow for any reason don't like the timeline feature, can remove it! Its just a matter of few clicks and here's how you gonna do it-

Note that this feature only works for you and your timeline will be visible as it is to other users. But if the visitor have done this trick, then they will see the old look only.

The facebook launched this new feature long back in an attempt to provide a new experience to the users, but let's face it, many of them resented against this. Personally, I am in favor of the timeline feature but this post is for all of those who don't.

1) Open http://www.timelineremove.com/. Their page is all but swanky loaded with advertisements, with number enough to let you feel its fake, but don't worry its 100% genuine!

2) Click on the "click here" button.

3) Its an extension, so it will just hook up to your browser. You need to add it.

4)Done!

To make you believe, I have added the screenshot of my own "profile". Here you go -

5) If you want to switch back, or just want to try out the old look for fun, you could simply remove it by right clicking on the small icon at the top left area of your browser and then clicking on "Remove from chrome"(For users of other browsers, the button text will be different, but not absent :p) from the drop-down menu.

Thanks. You could share this on facebook, if you like.
